Terms of Use

1. Accepting these terms

By downloading or using Velqro you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app. If you use Velqro for an organization, you confirm you are allowed to accept these terms for it.

2. The app and the free plan

Velqro lets you scan paper business cards, review and edit the details it reads, organize your cards, contact the people on them, and export them. Velqro is free to download. The free plan lets you save up to 10 cards and includes every other feature of the app except unlimited cards and cloud backup. Velqro reads card text automatically, and that can be wrong: check the details before you rely on them.

3. Velqro Pro subscription

• What it includes. Velqro Pro adds unlimited cards and cloud backup and sync across your phones.
• Prices. $1.99 per month or $14.99 per year (U.S. prices). Local prices vary; the app shows the price in your currency before you subscribe.
• Free trial. New subscribers get a 1-week free trial. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, the subscription starts and you are charged.
• Auto-renewal. Your subscription renews automatically for the same period and price until you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Payment is charged to your Apple ID or Google account.
• How to cancel. On iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Velqro → Cancel Subscription. On Android: Google Play → your profile picture → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Velqro → Cancel subscription. You keep Velqro Pro until the end of the period you paid for. Deleting the app or your account does not cancel a subscription.
• Refunds. Purchases are processed by Apple or Google, and refunds are handled by them under their own policies. Ask Apple or Google for a refund; we cannot issue one ourselves.
• Price changes. If the price changes, Apple or Google will tell you before it applies, as their rules require.

4. If you got Velqro from the App Store

If you downloaded Velqro from Apple’s App Store, Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. Where it conflicts with these terms, Apple’s agreement controls for your App Store copy of the app. These terms are between you and Ember, not Apple; Apple is not responsible for Velqro or its content, has no duty to provide maintenance or support for it, and is a third-party beneficiary of these terms with the right to enforce them against you.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use Velqro to break the law, or to collect or use other people’s information unlawfully.
• Use contact details from Velqro to send spam or unsolicited bulk messages.
• Try to access other users’ accounts or data, or disrupt, overload or attack our service.
• Copy, modify, reverse engineer or resell the app, except where the law allows it.

6. Your content

You own the cards, photos, notes and profile you add to Velqro. You give us permission to store and process them only as needed to run the app and your cloud backup. The cards you scan hold other people’s contact details: you are responsible for having the right to store and use that information, and for using it in line with the law.

7. Cloud backup

Cloud backup is part of Velqro Pro and needs an account. One account can keep up to 2,000 cards in the backup. The backup keeps smaller copies of your card photos, not the full-size originals. If your subscription ends, you can still restore what is already in your backup, but new changes are no longer backed up. Keep your own copies of anything important: a backup is not a guarantee that data can never be lost.

8. Availability and no warranty

We work to keep Velqro reliable, but we provide it “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of the text Velqro reads, and non-infringement. We may change, suspend or stop features, and the service may sometimes be unavailable.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Ember is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits or business, arising from your use of Velqro. Our total liability for any claim about Velqro is limited to the amount you paid for Velqro in the 12 months before the claim, or US$50, whichever is greater. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.

10. Termination

You can stop using Velqro and delete your account at any time (see Delete your account). We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts the service or other users at risk. Sections 6, 8, 9 and 11 continue to apply after termination.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which Ember Development Studios, LLC is organized, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. This does not take away any rights you have under the consumer protection laws of the place where you live.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will post the new version here with a new effective date. If you keep using Velqro after a change takes effect, you accept the updated terms.
